Wellesley was built in 1937 in the traditional Art Deco style of that period. The large undivided auditorium seats 400 people across two levels with almost 250 seats in the Stalls and approximately 150 seats upstairs in the Circle which has raked stadium seating and provides extra legroom in the rear. The auditorium is fully licensed to sell alcohol and has a hearing loop in the rear stalls and front circle. There is disabled access at street level with wheelchair spaces allocated at the front and back of the stalls. The venue has full stage facilities and often hosts Live Stage Shows including the highly acclaimed WAA Pantomime and WAA Operatic Society productions. |
There is on-street parking along Mantle Street on both sides of the road and a Pay & Display Car Park is located on Fore Street approximately a 2 minute walk away from the cinema.
It’s free after 6PM Monday to Saturday and free all day on Sunday’s.
Disabled Access - There are five steps with handrail to the main foyer which gives access to the Box Office and Main Kiosk, Stalls seating, and a Unisex Disabled person Toilet. We also have a wheelchair lift which can be accessed by request from the adjacent street level entrance.
CEA Carer Card - Merlin Cinemas participate with the CEA card which is a national concessionary card developed by the UKCA for UK cinemas. This allows people with disabilities to obtain one free ticket for a person accompanying them to the cinema. The aim of the CEA Card is to provide a consistent voluntary approach to the provision of complimentary tickets for people with disabilities. To find out more at the CEA Card website click here. CEA Cards are accepted for films on general release and event cinema, some restrictions may apply on private screenings.
